Barbie Hair Fix

About a year ago my daughter inherited my old barbies as well as a few that used to belong to my mom when she was little. These barbies had been played with a lot and it definitely showed. The worst part was the hair.

After doing some research I discovered a solution. I filled a small glass with water then added a few drops of fabric softener to it. I dipped a comb in the mixture then started to attack this mess of hair. I divided the hair into smaller sections and started at the ends working my way up. I dipped the comb back in the solution every few brushes to get the hair fairly damp. Within a few minutes the hair looked fantastic.

Here is a view from the back.

I can’t believe how easy this was. Now if I can just get motivated to tackle the other 30 or so barbies.

  2. We have so many Barbies that could use this! I wonder if it works on all dolls?

  3. This is amazing. Me and my daughter will be trying this on her dolls for sure or they are getting haircuts 🙂

  4. I don't have girls, but I remember well my barbies and this would have been amazing

  5. Good to know…I'm sure it would probably work on any baby doll hair! Side benefit you get to play with dolls again! 🙂 What a great gift for your daughter too. Also enjoyed the free printables! Thanks for sharing!!

  6. I read something recently but I can't remember from which blog where she used a wig brush to avoid the static and a solution like what you used and it was an amazing transformation. The wig brush just might be a hint for larger heads of hair where a comb might take forever!

  7. Amazing! I know what my daughter and I will be doing today! Rapunzel's rat nest will be no more! Thanks for this!

  8. This is so brilliant!! I have my work cut out for me though since my daughter is obsessed with all things Barbie, we must have close to 100!! =) This is being featured as our most clicked link today at {Junk in their Trunk}! Thanks for linking up!!

  9. Thx so much for the tip….would this work if you just plunge Barbie's whole hair mop into the solution and then work on it? The pictures are too funny! The Before is my hair in the summer with humidity and the after is when I've used a flat iron!!

  10. This is awesome! I wish I had read this post when my girls were little and every Barbie we had looked like the before picture!

  11. you're a genious!! I can't wait to try this!! I've been battling tangled doll hair for way too long! 😀 THANK YOOOOU!!! 😀
