4. Waterproof your shoes with candle wax. Rub the wax over your shoes then use a hair dryer to melt the wax onto the fabric. (DIY Projects)

8. Leave your oven door open after baking. Let the warmth from the oven heat up your home a little more.

9. Switch your ceiling fan so that it spins clockwise and set it on low. Doing so will take the warm air that rises and push it back down to you.

10. Place wadded up newspaper inside of wet shoes. The newspaper will wick up the moisture leaving your shoes dry.

11. Park you car facing east so that the morning sun will defrost your windshield.

  1. This is actually a list I can affordably use! Some of these ideas are ones I had forgotten about (bubble wrap and frozen bubbles), but the rest are ones I wish I had thought of or read of sooner. I love the idea of using the old comforters for thermal curtains, and can't wait to make the marbles for my porch steps. This list is short and genius, perfect for a Michigan winter. Thank you for sharing. Blessings from Port Huron, Michigan, USA.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Susie. I don't do cold weather so I would probable freeze to death in Michigan! So glad you found some helpful tips.
