5 Super Healthy Recipes That Your Kids Will Actually Eat

My family and I have been trying to make an effort to eat healthier, however, it’s not that easy when your kids are super picky about their food, and one is allergic to wheat. Last week I was searching for healthy, kid friendly recipes and was shocked at how many recipes claimed to be healthy but were loaded with processed foods. I’m not against feeding my kids processed foods but you can’t add shredded carrots to your grandmas favorite brownie recipe and call them healthy! After lots of searching I was able to find some recipes that use minimal (if any) processed foods and are extremely easy to make.

Frozen Yogurt Bark. If you are trying to avoid dairy, mash up a few bananas and use in place of the yogurt. Also I found these difficult to eat since they start to melt and get gooey once you take them out of the freezer. I prefer to put everything in popsicle cups and the kids eat them like they would a normal popsicle. Recipe Source – Natural Beach Living

Egg White Omelette In A Mug. We usually leave out the meat and sometimes the cheese too. And we replace the 4 egg whites with 2 whole eggs. (there are lots of vitamins and minerals in those yolks!!)  My kids are not big egg eaters but since these cook in the microwave, they can make them completely on their own. It’s amazing what kids will eat when they get the satisfaction of saying they made it all by themselves. Recipe Source – Tone & Tighten

2-Ingredient Banana Pancakes. This same recipe can be found on many websites and unfortunately most of them have bad reviews. I think it’s because people expect something that is only made with eggs and bananas to NOT taste like eggs and banana. But they do, …and my family loves them! The bananas make them very sweet tasting but they also have a distinct eggy flavor similar to french toast. The batter is also very thin making them more difficult to cook than pancakes. I usually use 2 tablespoons of batter per pancake. I toss the ingredients into a blender which gives them a smooth texture and you don’t have large banana chunks. I’ve also substituted 1/2 of the banana for sweet potato (leftovers that have been cooked and cooled) or beets (they turn the pancakes pink. perfect for valentines day) and my kids loved them. Raw Vegan Carrot Cup Cakes. This recipe uses a lot of ingredients but they are all whole, raw ingredients. I have not tried them yet but the comments on the site are pretty positive so I’m hopeful it will taste good. If you try it please let me know what you think in the comments below. Loaded Sweet Potatoes. These of my kids favorites!! The recipe linked here is just one of the many ways to make these and it’s a great way to get rid of leftovers. We usually have these a couple days after taco nights and use our leftover taco meat (chicken with taco seasoning) then add whatever other leftover we have that might taste good. A few of our favorite ingredients are; black beans, corn, avocado, jalapenos, bell peppers, tomatoes, chopped lettuce, olives, and onions. We also use yogurt in place of sour cream.
