My #1 Tip For Removing Pet Odors From Your Home

This post is sponsored by La-Z Boy but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

We have three large dogs. Two male labs and one female mastiff. If I don't stay on top of cleaning, the smelly dog odors can quickly get out of control leaving my house smelling like a dog pound. There are a lot of tips on the internet for removing pet odors, such as regular grooming, vacuuming & steam cleaning carpets, washing your walls, changing out your air conditioner filters often, and so on. These tips all work wonders in helping combat pet odors but sometimes we just don't have time to clean everything all the time. So while I do recommend doing all of those things when you do have the time, here is my #1 tip for when you don't.

Clean your dogs bed!! Yes, That's it. If you are short on time and only have a few minutes to clean then spend that time vacuuming in and around your dog's bedding or, if needed, wash the bed cover.

Dogs spend a ton of time in their beds so they can get stinky pretty fast. Running a vacuum over the bed daily, and washing when necessary can greatly reduce the pet odors in your home. When purchasing pet bedding make sure you find a bed that has a fully removable and easy to clean cover.
That's what I love about this La-Z Boy Blue Velvet Tucker Sofa Bed. There are two zippers on the back side of the bed that allow you to remove the bottom cushion and the top bolster. Once the cover is removed, just wash it in your washing machine! So easy and it makes it so much easier to keep the pet odors to a minimum.

Freya (our female mastiff), is very picky about her beds. They have to be super soft and comfortable. She is our princess ;). She will stick her nose up at beds with minimal stuffing. I love that La-Z Boy has expanded their furniture line to include stylish, yet comfortable pet beds with a variety of fabric options. (You can find them all HERE!) These beds are not only comfortable and luxurious, but they will also fit in perfectly with your home decor. They are stylish enough for any room in your home. Whether your dog sleeps with you in your bedroom or prefers to lounge around elsewhere in the home, you're sure to find a bed that will match any room.

Freya usually sleeps in one of the bedrooms (either the master bedroom or one of the kids' rooms) but during the day she spends a lot of time lounging around with us in the living room. I love how the deep blue, velvety fabric fits in so perfectly with the rich tones of our living room. My kids love this bed so much that they have begged my to put in in their bedroom but for now I like the way it looks in this little corner next to our television

The La-Z Boy pet beds are designed with built in comfort features such as luxurious sleep surfaces and sturdy support. Just like humans, dogs sleep in different positions.
  • The Side Sleepers: Tend to have happy-go-lucky and fiercely loyal personalities and are peaceful and comfortable with their surroundings. They sleep well on many types of beds: bolstered or non-bolstered.
  • The Donut: This position is the most common sleeping position as it conserves body heat and makes dogs feel protected and reserved.
  • The Sprawl: The Sprawl position are confident and secure with themselves and their environment and tend to have independent personalities. These types of sleepers sleep well on pillows, sofas, and loungers.
Freya tends to spend most of her time sleeping in the donut position so this bed was perfect for her. When we first took the bed out of the box she immediately placed her head on it and used it as a pillow. This is the first bed that she has had with a bolster on it so she wasn't too sure about it. After a few minutes though, she crawled up on the bed and curled up in her usual donut style. It didn't take long before she was fast asleep.

La-Z Boy pet beds are designed for a quality sleeping experience. We all know how important sleep is for us humans, but it is also just as important for your pets. I believe that proper sleep is just as important to your dogs health as regular vet check-ups and proper grooming. A comfortable and well designed pet bed such as this one will provide the means for Freya to get the quality of sleep that she needs. I can always tell when she gets a good nights rest because she is more playful and energetic the following day.

Freya loves her bed and I love that it is so easy to clean.  I say that this product is definitely a win win for both of us!!

Ok, let's be honest, how often do you clean your pet bedding? Do you think you would clean it more often if it were easier to clean? Let me know in the comments below.
