I am so excited to announce the launch of my new blog, JamieHammond!!

After a decade of blogging, I have finally decided to spill all of my secrets on how to start a blog and make a full-time income from the comfort of your home.

I decided to use my name, JamieHammond, as my blog name because I want my readers to know the real me.

I have been blogging (at diyhsh and a couple other blogs) for just shy of a decade now. Throughout the years I have been asked time and time again, how others can do what I do. While I try to help them out the best I can, this is a pretty loaded question. The answer isn’t something that can be explained in a single conversation. For this reason, I have decided to finally come out from behind the blog and share my story.

My mission for JamieHammond is to show you that it is possible to make a living from a blog. I hope to inspire you to follow your dreams to quit your 9 to 5, break free of the rat race, become your own boss, and start living your dream life.

I am also going to squash all the blogging rumors.

  • “You can’t earn money from a free platform like blogger.”  – Really??!!! That’s exactly what I did!
  • “You must invest in your business if you want to be successful.” – True, BUT… You can get started with blogging even if you don’t have a single dime to your name. Your blog will take longer to grow, but it can be done. After you start earning money, you can then start investing that money back into your blog to grow it faster.
  • “The only bloggers making money are the ones who teaching others how to blog” –  This rumor started because the only ones posting income reports to prove that they are earning an income are the ones who are teaching others how to blog. But the truth is, blogging is all about giving your customers what they want. If you follow a recipe blog, you expect them to post recipes (not income reports). If you follow a craft blog, you expect them to post crafts (not income reports). If you follow a news blog, you expect them to post the news (not their personal income reports) See where I’m going with this? Just because the bloggers who are teaching others are the only ones posting income reports, does not mean that they are the only ones making a living from blogging. Heck, look at Ree Drummond (the pioneer woman) who started a food blog and now her net worth is estimated at around $50 million.

Have these rumors stopped you from starting a blog and following your passion? If so, then hope on over to my new blog and follow my story.

What does this mean for DIY Home Sweet Home?

DIY Home Sweet Home will still be here! I will continue to share DIY projects on this site but there will be a few changes.

  • Most of my organizing printables will be moved to my new blog. I started DIYHSH as a way to share DIY projects for your home. I feel like my organizing printables fit in better with my mission for JamieHammond “Get your life together and start living your dreams”. While DIYHSH will be moving back to its routes and focusing more on home decor and home improvement. If you’re here for my free organizing printables be sure to head on over the JamieHammond and get some free calendars and sign up for my organizing newsletter.
  • DIYHSH will be moving to WordPress. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time but with over 1000 posts on this blog, it will be a huge headache. Well, I have procrastinated long enough! While blogger is a great blogging platform, it is very limited on what you can and can’t do. This also means that DIYHSH may be down for a while so please be patient with me while I make the switch.
  • Easier to navigate and better overall user experience. A huge complaint that I’ve had from readers is that my site is difficult to navigate. This is something that I don’t have have much control over with blogger and one of the reasons I’m moving to WordPress. I also plan on updating most of my older posts and limiting the ads that are shown on each post.

Every day, I wake up grateful for the opportunities that blogging has given me. It has literally changed my life and I am so thankful for each and every one of my readers. I hope that you are looking forward to these changes as much as I am.
